[7일차] '찾다'의 3가지 모습 - find / look for / search

 

찾다 찾는다를 별 생각없이 Find를 쓰면 절반 이상은 틀렸다.

 

1. find - 무언가를 찾은 순간

 - I found my key

 - I found my wallet 

무언가를 찾는 과정을 얘기할 땐 find를 쓰면 안된다.

일시적으로 일어나는 것이기 때문에 진행형으로 쓰면 안된다.

 

2. look for - 무언가를 찾고있는 과정

 - I'm looking for my notes.

 - I'm looking for a good restaurant in this area.

 - I'm finding (x)

 -(의문문) Are you looking for something? ( 뭐 찾고 있어요 ? )

 -(의문문) what are you looking for ? ( 어떤거 찾고 있어요 ?)

Look for에 익숙해 질 것

 

3. search - 공간 / 장소/ 지역을 뒤지다. 혹은 수색하다.

 - I searched everywhere and I still can't find my keys. 

 - did you search your room?

 - Yeah, I searched my room, I searched my pockets, I searched my coat pockets.

 - I've been looking for them for two hours. 

 - I can't find them.

 

인터넷도 하나의 공간/장소로 취급해서  Search the Internet (인터넷으로 검색하다)

(인터넷으로) ~을 검색하다. 를 말하고 싶은데,

I searched the restaurant. 라고 하면 식당을 뒤져봤다는 표현이 돼버림.

 - I searched the Internet and I found some information about the brand.

(인터넷으로 검색해서 그 브랜드에 대한 정보를 좀 얻어냈어) 

I searched online도 가능하다. 

좀 편하게 쓰고 싶다면

I looked for some Information on the Internet.

 

search for something은 look for과 유사한데 인터넷으로 검색하다는 의미가 강해짐

I searched for some information.
